Storm Deck
Terms of Service
Last updated June 14, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Storm Deck. By accepting these Terms (via the in-app acceptance modal at first login, or by continuing to use Storm Deck), you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use Storm Deck.

Important safety notice: Storm Deck is a situational-awareness tool. It is not a 911 replacement, an emergency-dispatch system, or a substitute for trained fire response. Do not rely on Storm Deck alerts as your sole means of detecting or responding to fire, lightning, evacuation orders, or other emergencies. Always call 911 in an emergency and follow the instructions of local authorities.

1. Who we are

Storm Deck is operated by Vantx Holdings LLC ("we", "us", "our"), an Oregon limited liability company. Our service is designed for rural property owners, land stewards, and small fire operations teams who want a single dashboard for weather, fire detections, GPS, and incident tracking.

2. Accounts and access

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • Accounts are scoped to a property. Your role on a property (admin, operator, viewer) determines what you can see and do within that property.
  • You are responsible for keeping your PIN confidential and for any activity under your account.
  • You must notify us promptly at contact@stormdeck.app if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Storm Deck for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
  • Attempt to interfere with the service, bypass security controls, or reverse-engineer our systems
  • Scrape, copy, or redistribute map tiles, fire data, or weather data in a way that violates the upstream providers' terms of service
  • Upload parcel data, incident logs, or other content you do not have the right to share
  • Use the service to harass, threaten, or target any person
  • Resell or sub-license Storm Deck access without our written permission

4. Your data

You own the data you put into Storm Deck — your incident logs, property boundaries, notes, and uploaded files are yours. You grant us two licenses with respect to that data:

  • Operational license: a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, transmit, and display your data solely to operate the service for you and your team.
  • Aggregated and de-identified data: a perpetual, royalty-free license to use aggregated and de-identified data derived from your use of Storm Deck — data that cannot reasonably be used, alone or in combination with other available information, to identify you, your property, or any individual — for product improvement, research, statistics, and marketing of the service. We will not share aggregated data in any form that re-identifies you or your property.

We will not sell your personal data, and we will not use your personal data to train third-party machine-learning models without your explicit consent.

5. Third-party data

Storm Deck aggregates data from public and commercial sources, including federal land-management and weather agencies, regional dispatch and emergency-management systems, commercial weather providers, and infrastructure-data providers. The current list of specific data subprocessors is available on request. We do not own or control this upstream data, and we cannot guarantee its accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or continued availability. If an upstream provider removes data, changes its terms, or goes offline, the affected Storm Deck features may become unavailable.

6. Subscriptions and payment

Storm Deck is currently provided at no charge during a limited preview while we finalize pricing and packaging. When paid plans become available, we will disclose the price, billing cycle, included features, and any refund terms at the time of purchase, and we will give existing users advance notice before any charge takes effect. After paid plans launch, continued use of features behind a paywall will require an active subscription; features that remain free will continue to be available without charge.

7. SMS and text messages

If you opt in, Storm Deck can send you text (SMS) messages — including service updates, notifications, and, where available, weather and storm information. Text messages are optional, are never a condition of creating or using a Storm Deck account, and are not a substitute for official emergency notifications (see the safety notice above).

  • Opting in: You opt in by entering your mobile number and checking the SMS consent box on the Storm Deck signup or account-settings page. By doing so you agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Storm Deck at the number you provide.
  • Message frequency: Message frequency varies.
  • Cost: Message and data rates may apply. Storm Deck does not charge for the messages themselves, but your mobile carrier's standard messaging and data charges may apply.
  • Opting out: You can cancel text messages at any time by replying STOP to any Storm Deck text. You will receive a one-time confirmation and no further texts unless you opt in again.
  • Help: For help, reply HELP to any Storm Deck text, or email contact@stormdeck.app.
  • Delivery: Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and message delivery is not guaranteed. Do not rely on text messages for emergency or life-safety information.
  • Privacy: We do not sell or share your mobile number with third parties or for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers

Life-safety disclaimer: Storm Deck is provided for informational and situational-awareness purposes only. It is not a 911 replacement, it is not a professional fire management system, and it is not certified for emergency dispatch. In any emergency, call 911 and follow the instructions of trained responders.

Storm Deck is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or availability. We do not warrant that:

  • The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • Fire detections, lightning data, or weather forecasts will be accurate or timely
  • Alerts will be delivered on time or at all (network, device, and third-party provider issues are outside our control)
  • The service is suitable for any particular purpose you may have in mind

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Storm Deck or Vantx Holdings LLC, or any of our officers, employees, contractors, or affiliates, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages — including but not limited to property damage, personal injury, loss of life, loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption — arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) Storm Deck, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Storm Deck and Vantx Holdings LLC, and our officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates, from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any third-party rights, or any content you upload to the service.

11. Termination and data export

You may close your account at any time by emailing contact@stormdeck.app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if we discontinue the service. On termination for any reason, your right to use Storm Deck ends immediately.

On written request received within 30 days of termination, we will provide a machine-readable export of your incident logs, parcel overlays, personnel records, locations, and lightning records for your property. After that window your data may be permanently deleted, except where longer retention is required by law or described in our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including the Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law sections — will continue to apply.

12. Changes to the service and these Terms

We may modify or discontinue Storm Deck — or any feature of it — at any time. For material changes to these Terms (changes that affect your rights, our liability, the data we collect, or the fees we charge), we will give registered account holders at least 30 days' advance notice by email or in-app notice before the change takes effect, and we will require you to re-accept the updated Terms at next login. The "Last updated" date at the top of these Terms always reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.

13. Force majeure

We will not be liable for any delay or failure in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, fire, power outages, internet service disruptions, acts of government, pandemics, or failure of third-party data providers. During any such event, our obligations under these Terms are suspended to the extent affected.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wasco County, Oregon, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

16. General

  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
  • Assignment: You may not assign these Terms or any of your rights or obligations under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of substantially all of our assets.
  • Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any plan, order, or other document we provide that references these Terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and Vantx Holdings LLC regarding Storm Deck, and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
  • No waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to enforce that provision later.
  • Headings: Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
  • Notices: Legal notices to us must be sent to Vantx Holdings LLC at the contact address above (non-legal correspondence may also be sent to contact@stormdeck.app). Notices to you may be sent to the email address on your account or posted in-app.
